Frequently asked questions
Common questions on acquisition, delivery, squad use and safety. Can't find what you need? Talk to our team.
Can we hire before we buy?
Yes. Most products are available for monthly hire or hire-to-buy as well as outright purchase — talk to us about the right option for your programme.
Do you deliver and install?
We deliver and install across the UK and Ireland. Lead times and requirements vary by product and facility; we'll confirm details for your site on enquiry.
What about safety and contraindications?
Safety is paramount. We provide guidance and our clinical advisors can discuss contraindications. Always follow professional and manufacturer guidance.
What happens during a hyperbaric oxygen or red light therapy session?
You simply lie back and relax. During a hyperbaric session the chamber gently pressurises — similar to the feeling of take-off on a plane — while you breathe oxygen through a soft mask; most people read, listen to music or even nap. Red light therapy sessions are open and comfortable: you lie under a light panel for 10–20 minutes while specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light are absorbed by your cells. Both treatments are non-invasive and designed to be restorative.
Are HBOT and red light therapy safe to use at home?
Yes. Every VIRTUS system is pressure-tested and built to recognised safety standards. Our chambers use mild pressure and deliver oxygen through a concentrator — not stored tanks — which makes them well suited to home use. We provide full setup, training and ongoing support so you can use your system confidently from day one.
Are there any health conditions where these therapies aren't recommended?
A few conditions — such as untreated pneumothorax, recent ear surgery, or certain lung and sinus issues — require medical review before using HBOT. We provide clear screening guidance and can arrange a consultation with our medical advisor to make sure the therapy is right for you.
How many sessions will I need to see results?
Everyone responds differently. Some people notice improvements in sleep, recovery or energy within the first few sessions, while others feel deeper benefits after 10–20. As with exercise, consistency brings the best outcomes — our team will help tailor a programme to your goals, whether that's performance, longevity or recovery.
How are the chambers and panels installed in my home?
Installation is simple and fully supported. Our team delivers, assembles and tests every system for you, and we provide clear video guides and live support during your first use. The chambers and panels plug into a normal power outlet and typically take less than an hour to set up.
Who supports me after I start using the equipment?
Every VIRTUS client receives ongoing support and guidance. You'll have direct access to our UK & Ireland-based team for questions, technical help or wellness advice — by phone, WhatsApp or video — so your experience stays smooth, safe and optimised for results from the very first session.
How much does it cost — and is it affordable?
We believe advanced recovery shouldn't be reserved for clinics or elite athletes. You can buy outright, hire monthly, or spread the cost with hire-to-buy — and pricing includes delivery, setup and full support. Because our systems can be safely shared between family members, the effective cost per session comes down the more you use them, and every VIRTUS system is built to last as a genuine long-term investment in health, recovery and performance. Tell us your goals and we'll put together a tailored quote with a realistic cost-per-session for your setup.
What is active compression and cold technology?
Our Match Ready range combines two recovery methods in one device: therapeutic temperature (cold or heat) and intermittent pneumatic compression, delivered together through anatomical cuffs. The unit circulates temperature-controlled water through the cuff while raising and releasing pressure in cycles, so the area receives cold (or heat) and a gentle pumping action at the same time. You can adjust the time, pressure and temperature to suit your stage of recovery and any guidance from your clinician. Match Ready v.1 is filled manually with ice or hot water, while v.2 and v.3 use iceless semiconductor technology to heat and cool automatically — and the Elite (v.3) adds dual water tanks for instant switching between hot and cold. Seven interchangeable cuffs cover the shoulder, elbow, waist, knee, ankle, leg and calf.
How does it work?
Match Ready combines several recovery methods, each working in a different way. Cold therapy lowers the temperature of the treated tissue, which slows the local metabolic rate and is used to help ease pain and limit swelling after injury or hard training. Heat therapy widens blood vessels, and the increased blood flow and tissue temperature are used to support circulation and the clearing of by-products from the inflammatory process. Contrast therapy alternates cold and heat to open and constrict the blood vessels in turn, helping stimulate blood flow to the area without adding swelling — the Elite (v.3) makes this easy with dual tanks for instant switching. Intermittent compression applies even, cyclical pressure around the area, which is used to support lymphatic flow, help manage swelling and aid recovery. You can combine temperature with compression and adjust the time, pressure and temperature to suit your stage of recovery and any guidance from your clinician.
How does localised cryotherapy work?
Localised cryotherapy applies intense cold to a specific area rather than the whole body. Our Virtus Cryo Gun uses CO₂ gas to rapidly cool the skin's surface at the treatment site, which is used to help reduce pain and inflammation, support circulation and aid mobility during recovery. Because it is targeted rather than whole-body, the cold is concentrated exactly where you need it, and the combination of rapid cooling and pressurised delivery is what makes localised treatment effective. Its pinpoint application is why this approach is used pitchside and in physio rooms for acute injuries. As with any cold therapy, follow professional guidance on timing and suitability.
Is localised cryotherapy safe?
Yes. Localised cryotherapy is a non-invasive treatment that is generally well tolerated, with minimal side effects when used correctly. As with any cold therapy, it should be applied following the manufacturer's instructions and professional guidance — and you should speak to a qualified clinician first if you have a circulatory condition, reduced skin sensation or any other relevant medical concern.
How long should you use the Full Body Compression Set for?
Most dynamic compression sessions last around 20–30 minutes, though anywhere from 15 to 60 minutes can be useful depending on your goal. Even a shorter 15–20 minute session at a medium setting is commonly used to support circulation and ease muscle stiffness — for example, before a workout — while a longer session can suit post-training recovery. The Full Body Compression Set (IPC12B) lets you set the time from 1 to 90 minutes and choose from eight programmes with adjustable pressure, so you can tailor each session to your needs and any guidance from your coach or clinician.
